STOCKS AND SHARES.

The tone of the Auckland sharcmarket remained unaltered yesterday. In Government securities New Zealand War Loans, 1938, were quoted at £97 ss. There was inquiry for the 1927 War Loan issue at £98, sellers quoting £98 ss. Soldiers' bonds were sought at £100, no sellers quoting. In banks Nationals of New Zealand changed hands at £6 15s 6d, late buyers offering £6 15s, filers £6 18a. New Zealands (old) wanted at 51s were quoted at 52e, the new issue being sought at 49s 6d, sellers holding for 60s. In insurances there were buyers for New Zealands at 295, sellers 29s 9d. South British, quoted at 40s, had inquiry at 395. In gas there were transactions in Aucklands,. ordinary shares selling at 25s 3d, and the new issue at 3s sd. In shipping Devon port Steam Ferry had inquiry at 25s 6d. Huddart-Parkers, quoted at 42s 3d, had buyers at 41s. P. and O. deferred stock were quoted at £315. In miscellaneous lines business was done in Milne and Choyce 'debenture stock at 23s 6d. Wilsons Cement changed hands at 28s 6d, late buyers offering 28s 3d, sellers 28s 9d. In mining Waihis were inquired for at 26s 2d, sellers 26s' 3d. Waihi Grand Junctions were done at ss, further buyers offering 4s 9d, sellers sb. There was a sale of New Waiotahis (con.) at sd. Moanataiaris, quoted at 2s 6d, had buyers at Is 6d. The following sales took place: — National Bank of New Zealand, a— 15s 6d; Auckland Gas, 25s 3d, new issue, 3s sd; Milne and Choyce debentures, 23s 6d ; Wilsons Cement, 28s 6d; New Waiotalri (con.), sd; Waihi Grand Junction. ss.
