JUVENILE GAMBLERS.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON GAME. OFFENCE IN WESTERN PARK. An instance of juvenile gambling was revealed at the Police Court yesterday before Mr. J. ,W. Poynton, S.M. A plea of guilty was made by five small boys who were charged with having foregathered in the Western Park last Sunday afternoon and indulged in a game of chance known an penny poker. The lads seemed deeply impressed with the gravity of their offence, and had .not recovered from the terror which had stricken them when the constable caught them in the act of finishing their eighteenth game. Mr. Poynton was not disposed to further punish the youthful gamblers, and each was convicted and ordered to pay costs, amounting to 15s.
