BUILDING NOTES.
ACTIVITY IN THE SUBURBS.
Building development is being pusheu on at St. Heliera Bay, and a contract for three residential shops in brick-has been let to Messrs. Adams - and Hine, under the supervision of Mr. T. G. Price, architect. The premises are to be erected at the corner of Wharf Street and Polygon Street.
Two very up-to-date shops have been 1 recently completed for Mr. W. A. Thomas \in Balmoral Road, near the Dominion Road Terminus. Building developments are taking place at Bayswater, consisting of residences ..uu. shops, to meet the demand of the rapidly increasing dwellers in this popular seaside district. "'.'•'"'. Extensive alterations and additions are proposed for the factory of C. Q. Laurie, Stanley Street. A two-storey block in reinforced concrete, with floors and stairs of the same material, will be erected. Special provision has been made for lighting, the front • being all steel windows, and the roof wili be of the saw-tooth pattern. It is estimated that the building will cost about £7000. The architect is Mr. Frederick A. Browne. It is proposed to add a further two storeys to the premises of the Progress Properties Co., in Albert Street, extensive office space being necessary. Plans are now being prepared for this work, which is estimated to cost about £4500. The architect is Mr. Frederick A. Browne.
A large block of shops is in course of erection at the corner of Uplands Road and Remuera Road. These premises will consist of three shops, with residential accommodation, and a chemist's shop, with dentist's rooms attached.
