FATE OF A PETITION.
ONE TREE HILL AFFAIRS. The failure of the recent movement to constitute One Tree Hill a borough, was discussed by the One Tree Hill Road Board last evening. The chairman, Mr. R. G .Clark, stated that a petition had been circulated in the portion of the district south of Campbell Road, asking that a new road board district should be created. The petition was forwarded to the Internal Affairs Department, but was returned with the information that the signatures of the section of the community concerned would not suffice, but that the petition, before being considered, would have to be signed by two-thirds of the ratepayers of the whole district. , ■ .'■ .- ■ "The movement has been promoted by a few discontented people, and the ratepavers should be well advised to make sure that thev are not being imposed upon," said the chairman. The board approved of his remarks.
