DEPARTMENTAL GRANTS.

TEACHERS' APPOINTMENTS.

The Auckland Education Board met yesterday, those present being Mr. A. Burns, acting-chairman, Messrs. J. Boddie, J. P. MoPhail, G. Brownlee, H. 8. W' King, J. Patterson, F. A. Snell, W. J.'Campbell, V. Reed and T. U. Wells. The deaths of Mr. B. Cronin, formerly headmaster of Nelson Street school, and of Miss Joyce E. Judson, assistant at Thornton school, were noted by the board with regret. Letters of condolence are to be sent to the relatives. Th© appointment of Miss Gore Martin as physical instructress from the beginning of next year, was notified by the department, also the transfer of Miss H. v?. Blackie to Wanganui. The department notified a grant for the erection of three classrooms at tho Pukekohe Technical High School. A grant for the. Acquisition of a new school site at Horse Shoe Bush (Dairy Flat) and the removal of the school building thereto, was also notified. The board authorised the following appointments: —Assistant master, Mr. E. Hayter, Grey Lynn. Female assistant: Miss T. M. P. Slowey, Papakura. Sole teachers: Miss K. M. Flood, Mangapai South and Mata; Miss G. L. Brough, Waimai Aided School. Committees are to be consulted regarding proposed appointments as follows: — Frankton : Headmaster, Mr. A. L. Sheppard. Hikurangi: Headmaster, Mr. A. R. Merrington. Awhitu Central : Teacher, Mrs. A- Farmer. Horsham Downs : Teacher, Miss L. Fletcher. Oropi : Teacher, Miss' L. E. Macmillan. Dnrgaville : Assistant master, Mr. C. E. Adams and Mr. S. E. Bush. Hautapu : Assistant, Miss J C. Bertelsen. Kowhai Junior High School : Assistant master, Mr. G. H. Stubbs, B.A.
