HILLSBOROUGH CEMETERY.
MAINTENANCE OF THE ROAD.
The chairman of the Mount Roskill Road Board, Mr. Geo. E. Tansiey, took the opportunity last evening to remind a deputation from tho Onehunga Borough Council of an old misunderstanding between the two bodies. He said that when the Hillsborough cemetery was dedicated, the board allowed it on the .distinct understanding that Onehunga should contribute £50 per annum toward the maintenance of the road. That amount was paid for the first year, after a personal appeal had been made by a deputation from the board, but nothing had been received since and the board had given up applying for it He acknowledged that so far the traffic to Hillsborough had not been very heavy, but maintained that as Waikaraka cemetery w?s fully taken up, the public would use Hillsborough to an increasing extent. The Onehunga representatives promised to look into the matter. ____________
