A. and N.Z.
NEW YORK, Oct. 17.
It is interesting" to note how Papyrus has gradually advanced in the esteem of American sportsmen by his: consistency, as demonstrated in his work. Donoghuo has. arrived, and will ride Papyrus during his final work. The horse shows excellent form, and covered a mile and aquarter in '2m. 10 2-55., pulling up strong and ready for more. : :'. ,
2w, -which will bo ; ridden by the jockey, Earl Sande (8.2), during the final ■work and- in the race, has for the past two days disappointed observers, not so much from the point of view of speed, but because he finished his mile and aquarter runs tired. ■'■-.■'
It is learned from Washington-that the trainers of Papyrus and Zev have both accepted a challenge to the winner of the international raco 'to meet My Own on a Maryland track next week. .
