A DISHONOURED CHEQUE. RUMOUR STARTS A RUSH. A. and N.Z. : OTTAWA, Oct. 16. Banking in Canada has its precarious moments these days. According to a message from Toronto the public are nervous because of recent failures. An unprecedented rush has started on the Dominion Bank in various Toronto branches. , On Saturday a foreigner presented a worthless cheque, payment of which was refused, and word got abroad that the bank was in trouble. "
To-day thousands of depositors stood in line and withdrew their credits, while other banks attempted to • stem rhe tide without success.
