Wcdnesda> The 1 town of Taneatua is en fete thi3 week, and a ; variety; of entertainments is being ' provided. ■ Last Saturday a carnival opened with ".•; a{; fancy dress .football, match, j and in the evening street concerts i were given by the Taneatua Band and a; Maori troupe. On Monday a fancy dress ball was held > and was attended by guests from all parts of the Whakatane County. Another concert .was given - st 1 i evening. The remainder of the week will be taken up with various, carnival fixtures. ; : The object is .to bring before the ,- people '-. the attractions rof Taneatua " as : s a ■• shopping centre. .
