; This week's English mail brought to Colonel A. Morrow a letter from General Sir Alexander Godley,' who was Commandant of the New Zealand Forces until the outbreak of the great war," and during hostilities oommanded the expeditionary force, and who is now in command "of the British ;:•::;- on the Rhine, acknowledging the receipt of, a photograph of the cenotaph to the heroes of the Maori Wars which has been erected on the reserve at the top of Wakefield Street. General Godley says: ' "I am very glad to think 1 you have kept alive the memory of those veterans who fought in the Maori Wars. Will you please give my , congratulations and best remembrances and greetings to all our King's Empire veterans. I wish there was such an institution in every city and every Dominion of the Empire, and in Great Britain itself."
