Johnson, Assistant-Controller ;of Savings Banks and Accounts, as Controller, of the Post Office Savings Bank, in succession to Mr. H. A. E. Hoggins, who is retiring; on superannuation. :; v • Mr. Johnson ■]• joined the department in January, 1885, ,'as-a clerk 'in the G.P.0., Wellington. Subsequently, ho -was transferred to Napier, and afterwards to Auckland. Returning to Wellington he was promoted '. to * the. position Vof i' third money order and savings bank clerk in 1903,. and four years later ho:; was appointed sectional clerk in;the accountants branch. In 1908 he was -appointed principal ■ clerk in: the money order ,i. division. After filling several other' 1 appointments he \ was promoted to the position iof ; assistant controller -of Savings f Banks and Accounts, which position he had heW for the; past six years. ;Mr. Johnson is a, well-known -.bowler, and is a past presi- I dent of .the : Kelburn Bowling Club.
