EPSOM TRAINING NOTES. BY PICAKOR. - There was much activity on the. training track at Alexandra Park yesterday after- | noon, when the bulk of the work was of tho, useful order. .■ .| Tho members of P. Riddle's team were j given some useful work, but none of them were looking for time... All Be|l and TJita Bell were allotted several circiits at a sound pace. They ; i were together practically tho whole. of the way. Zolock Palm, who looks well, was noticed pacing along evenly just in behind them .for .part of the journey. , .'■"> ■.■■.■ Aerial Bipsren, whose condition is .good, trotted steadily without being extended over several cirouits, and Purimu also "did several circuits, but was not out to make time.' NOTES BY PICADOR; ; Tho unsettled weather conditions have caused local trainers much inconvenience in the working of their horses, for the training track ha 3 •suffered considerably by the recent rain, and en soveral days lately has not been available in the mornings. However, trainers are making the best of things, ana many of them have been working their horses on the roads. It is probable that many horses may not bo thoroughly attuned for the coming mooting, and the racing may provide some surprises.

Quiver, who la engaged in the Stewards' Handicap, is a five-year-old gelding, by Wildwood Junior out of Ladyßchild. Last season he ~raced . seven times for one win, two seconds,.and a third, while this season he has missed a place in each of his three starts. Quiver iB an improving- sort, and has 3m fi2s against him for a mile and five furlongs and 3m 34 2-5s for a mile and a-half, which are approximately equal to a rate of speed of 2m 23s to the mile. Great Bingen is one of the most-discussed horses in connection with the Spring Handicap, the principal event on the opening day of the Auckland meeting. At the Now Zealand, Metropolitan Trotting Club's August meeting ho decisively won the Selwyn Handicap (two miles) in 4nv % 4-58. and on that form is entitled to treat respect. Blue Mountain King "is stated to have registered a (food trial *at Alexandra Park recently, and seems certain to command a pood following in the "Spring Handicap, ior the black horse has on many occasions given local enthusiasts a tasto of his quality, v J. J. Kennerlcy is- expected to arrive today with Great Bingen and Quiver. Two other South Island horses in Linden and Prince Lyons are also due to reach: headquarters to-day. - , Among the first of the visitors to arrive were the Wellington horses, Zolock Palm Holly Boy, and Black Palm, who arrived at the end of last week in charge of S August, ■•••
