The appointments to the War -Pensions Appeal Board of the following nominees of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association were approved by •', the Cabinet to-day: Auckland district, Dr. W. C. McCawj Wellington, Dr.' F. ,T. Bowerbank; Canterbury, Dr. A. ;J. Orchard; Otago, Dr. T. - Fergus. In regard to- Southland, for which the association nominated Dr. R. H. Hogg, and asked that.it be rated-a, district for the purpose of hearing appeals, the 'Minister for Defence, Sir R. -Heaton Rhodes, states that the i : . Cabinet could not see its way to • approve of this. Southland's needs would, he ; said, be served ;by - the!'• board sitting in . Dunedin. . - - , . :: •'•> Sir Frederick Chapman has been appointed chairman :■ of the board. Another member, a medical man, has yet to be • appointed by the Government.
