The obligatory training to bo carried out by territorials during the year 192324 is to be as follows:—(1) Six conseJ cutive whole-day I parades, formerly ■ optional. (2) six half-day: parades, instead of twelve as / at; present. (3) twelve drills, instead of 20 as at present. (4) .a prescribed course of musketry which will bo carried out during the half-day parr' ages referred to above unless special permission to the contrary is given by the 0.0. Command. The question of the cost of concentrating a unit for this training is to be specially taken into consideration by the O.C. Command and, where" the training allotted to any unit is insufficient to ewer the' cost of concentration, squadrons or companies will be' allowed to carry out their training, locally. Periods of consecutive training are to' be arranged as. besu suit local conditions. The guiding ~,■ principle being that Che training is earned out in - the minimum time . and with as little inconvenience to employers and trainees y as' possible. , The obligatory training for cadets will be as' follows.—(1). Thirty drills of one and a-half hours duration. (2) six half-day parades. (3) a prescribed course of musketry which is to be carried out during (1) and (2). In country districts where the isolation of the drill centre prevents the regular attendance of a permanent instructor, ■-the above training will be consolidated into six consecutive whole-day parades. ■ v Where required, free transport, rations and camp .equipment will be provided for. trainees while, carrying out consolidated training, but trainees will not receive pay, as under the pre-war camp training system. • Y From the end of this year territorials will be transferred to the reserve on completion of four years' efficient service, two of which may be in tho cadets instead of at 21 years of. ago, as at present. When the" next' postings are made in .Tune, 1924, all men on ■ the ■ non-effective list who have not completed the, course referred to, and are ' between the , ages of 18 and 21 years, will ?bo transferred to a territorial unit unless they reside mora than one day's journey by normal means of transport from the nearest drill centre.
