Monday. - /: An elderly Maori, Pene Te Waiti, who was resident at Ratana's Pa, was accidentally killed on the railway line by a ballast train this morning. Deceased, who was deaf and dumb, attempted to cross the line '•; in front of the ' oncoming train, and. was caught before 'the engine could be stopped. '-' • V At the inquest- a verdict was returned that deceased met his death by accident, no blamo'being attachable to anyone.
