A committee meeting of the Te Aroha Jockey Club was held on Saturday evening, Mr. R. L. Somors presiding. The following officials for the 1924 race meeting were appointed: Judge. Mr. Geo. [by telegraph.— CORRESPONDENT. ' . TE AROHA, Monday Writing to the T«. Aroha Jockey Club with reference to the racing- stallions. Day Comet and Archiestown, the property of the Auckland Country Racing Clubs Breeders Association, the president, Mr. Vercoe, of Hamilton, states that he regretted to report that the year has not been a successful one for the association. After writing the horses down .£205, there was ft loss of .£BO3 ss. Of the 40 allotments authorised for each horse. 89 mares came ..forward for Day Comet and 29 for Archiestown, ■'• as against 42 and 47 respectively last year. This was attributed to the unsettled financial conditions existing throughout the year. He was sorry to say that the associated clubs did, not support the horaei» as well as ia previous years. Ohinemuri or Rotorua did not use any of their nominations, while Waina used ,8. Te Aroha 8, and Te Kuiti 2. The balance of 55 were supplied by the Hamilton club and outsiders. He trusted that during, the present season, the horses would receive better Mr. R. Burke.
