SEASON'S BUTTER OUTPUT. | EFFECT OF DRY AUTUMN. Ist TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ; ; WHA2TGABEI, : Monday. V l Although.the output of butter by the Whangarei Dairy Company for the past year was 733 tons 9cwt., which represented' an increase of almost ; 100 tons, compared with 3 the previous year's manufacture,'* the increase is considered disappointing. '.-'./' This point has been made clear in the annual report which is to be presented by the chairman,.Mr- Henry Wakelin, to Jhe. forthcoming annual meeting. The dry weather experienced last autumn is given as the cause of the failure to reach the increase anticipated. The average grade for the season was 93.81. During the year the number of suppliers had increased by 129 and had reached 525. Tho result was that 3,430,9861b. of butter-fat had been received, which was an increase of 1.74 per cent, over the figures for the preceding--12 months. The butter made,, at the factory in the 1922-23 season weighed 1,642,9771b., or 1:55 per cent, more than in tho preceding year... In consequence- of the increased output indicated- the direc tors, with a view to still further extending their operations in accord with tho rapid growth of tho district, had spent some £3080 on additions to the factory buildings, alteration)!, and purchase of [plant and equipment.
