NOTIFICATIONS IN AUGUST.
PNEUMONIA AND INFLUENZA
The total number of cases of infectious diseases reported to the medical officer of health as occurring in thti Auckland health district during August was 254, compared with 236 in July, and 195 in August, 1922. Pneumonia ' (35 and influenza pneumonia (116) accounted for 161 notifications.' There were 62 casesi of influenza pneumonia in the city and suburbs, and 54 in the country districts last month.
~ There was a decrease in diphtherial cases last month, the total being 41, compared with ■64 in July. There were 23 cases in the city and suburbs, compared with 30 in July, while in the country district the number fell: from 34 to 16!. There were 18 cases of scarlet fever irii August, 12 .being :in the-, city and! suburbs, and six in the country, as. against 13 and eight respectively in July. Two cases of enteric fever were notified last month, both being from the country in July there were two cases in the'city and one in the country. Thirty cases of tuberculosis were .' reported last- month;, there being 15 from the city and suburbs and an equal number from the country. In July there, were 20 cases, of which sis occurred in the city and suburbs, and 11 in the ■ country. :.'"■•' ' " '
