WINSTdNE ESTATE SECTIONS, i 230 SOLD IN A WEEK. * Of the 260 building sections•'comprised in the Winstone Estate at Mount :.JRoskill, no ; fewer 'than" 230 have '■'■ been sold : within a week of the first intimation that this area was being offered. The sec- :. tions, , each of which have a road frontage of 50 ; feet and an area of one-fifth of an acre, have been bought at ■.the average '■■ price of £135, to be paid by [ instalments. The district, of volcanic formation, is about four and a-half miles from the Town Hall, and within easy walking distance of Waik'owhai Park. 'All the buyers are stated to be Aucklanders. ':■ '; A large proportion ' of, the sections face* on to Arthur and Richardson Roads, and other roads will be constructed in the near future. Those who have acquired sections on these two roads will vbe able at once to begin building operations. The area is all under Land Transfer title.Sites have been fixed for a post office and public hall, and the necessary area ; ha been taken for a recreation reserve, in addition to which' there will be a plantation reserve. The T, M. Burke Organi-. sation, which has carried through this land transaction, is making all necessary arrangements for water supply to the projected new roads, and other essential conveniences- will follow with this minimum of delay. . > ..-.■■: - . The question of transit, as it affects the city worker, has received prompt consideration, and arrangements ; are being made for a connecting motor-'bus service from the new estate to the tramway. In all, probability this subsidised 'bus service will link up the estate with the Mount Eden tram route. " When in operation, this service Will bring the new area within half an hour's transit of the city. A large proportion of the buyers have purchased one section only. In certain instances, however, certain buyers have already disposed of . their sections at an enhanced price. During Saturday, arid yesterday about 100 motor-cars visited the estate, conveying would-be buyers, and it is stated that in,most instances these visits resulted in a sale being fixed. ,'■'■' The organisation which has carried through this land transaction will carry out the latest methods of town-planning, : with good drainage. . They aimed at popularising land :as a commodity, so that the wage-earner could buy, by means of thrift;, his own freehold.
