The returns of the Free State elections at midnight on Friday were as follow: — Government ... ... ... 49 Republicans ... . ... 34 Independents 4 .. -... ... 18 Labour .. ... ... ... ] 3 Farmers ... ... ... ... 10 These figures give a total of 124, leaving 29 seats yet to bo accounted for. All the Ministers bate been returned. Mr. Gavan Duffy and Mr. R. C. Barton, two signatories of the Irish Treaty, who subsequently seceded from the Free State Government, ; were both defeated. Mr. Duffy stood as an Independent, and Mr. Barton as a Republican. Count Vlunkett, who is a supporter of De Valera, is certain of election;; Five of the women candidates have been elected.
