Miss E, Melville will intro'Jduce the/ deputation which will consist of ; representatives from the «Women's National Reserve and the Civic League. Members of the council were invited to an "At Home" to'be given by Mrs. G. Wilson, at the Y.W.C.A. : to-morrow afternoon, in honour of Miss Jean Begg, who has recently arrived ■ from America. -:1A remit had been received from the Takapuna Women's Progressive League, ;to the effect that this "meeting of the National Council Of Women urge members to bring before their societies the matter of . representation on th* Hospital Board and Charitable Aid Board, with a view to the unanimous support vof women candidates at next election for members of the board; also that a copy of this resolution be sent to the -Dominion secretary requesting her to/ send copies to other branches of the league. ~. The following letter ad been received from the town clerk, with reference to a letter relating to the Auckland City Council housing proposals:-—" I beg to inform, you that in this connection the amendments to the plans as affecting the initial arrangement of the houses and put forward by Councillor Melville, were adopted." Arrangements were discussed for the forthcoming Dominion conference of the council, which is to take place in Auckland on September 17, 18, and 19. A . civic reception, tendered to the visitors by the Mayor, will be held ,in the Council Chamber at noon on September 17, and it ;is 'hoped that •'. all ■ those interested in women's movements, will be present. It may be stated that it is the first time that a woman's organisation has been ac- :"» corded a civic reception in Auckland, and it is expected that the function will be entirely successful. The conference will sit in the Council Chamber from 10 a.m. to 1 12.30 p.m., and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the 17th, 18th. and 19th. A luncheon for the visitors will be held at the club on the 17th, and in the evening an" At Home" will be given at the club. During their visit the visitors will also be taken for a drive round the city. The conference should prove most interesting, and it is hoped that the sittings will be attended by a large number of citizens. . The following committee was formed to make the arrangements for the entertainment of ' the guests:—Mrs. Ely, Mrs. Cook, Mrs. McLeod, Mrs. H. MacN-il,' Miss Newbiggen,, Miss Grant, and Miss E. Reid.
