SIR E. T. H. HUTTON. ' A MILITARY - ORGANISER. A. and : N.Z. 'LONDON; Aug. 5. Lieutenant-General Sir. Edward T. H. Hutton, formerly general officer commanding the New South Wales military forces, is dead.. / •' » The active service record of Sir Edward Hutton, who was born in 1848, included the Zulu war of 1879, the Egyptian war of 1882, the Nile expedition, 1884-85, and the South. African war. Ho (commanded the military forces of New South • Wales from 1893 to 1896, and was president of the Australian Military Conference in the latter year. In the South. African war he comiuar.ded the mounted troops other than cavalry on the . flank of Lord Roberts' advance, and subsequently an independent column in the operations in the Eastern Transvaal. Aug'.; 5. ; The death,is announced of Mr. Charles Edwin Musgrave, F.1.C.5., secretary of the London.: Chamber of Commerce. , . ■ \ .■ ■ • . • • ■ - The late Mr. Musgrave,,who' was a Chevalier of the Order of St. Anne of Russia, was born in Stotfoeld, shire, and was educated in his own home. He became sub-editor, of The Citizen in 1882, and entered the service of the London Chamber of Commerce the next year. He became its secretary in 1909. He .was secretary ' of the Congress of Chambers of Commerce of the Empire in 1920, and of the British Imperial Council of Commerce since 1911. He wrote several books and pamphlets on : commercial subjects, ana a handbook; on the Factory and Workshops' Act.

MR. T. E. PAWLEY. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Axis 6. Mr. T.E.Pawley, the well-known cricketer, who was manager of .the M.C.C. team which visited Australia in 1911, died suddenly on arrival at Canterbury for the cricket week. Mr. Pawley, who was a Kej;* "an, was aged 65 years.
