PRICES OF MATERIALS.
INQUIRY IN BRITAIN. A Government Committee has been appointed to deal with the question of the cost of building materials in Britain. Tho committee is "to survey the prices of - btilding materials and (to receive and consider complaints in respect thereof and to report from time .to time to the Minister of Health and the President of the Board of Trade as to the facts and 111 particular as to the extent to which in case the price appears to be un- . duly, high by reason of, the operations of any 'trade combination, trust or agreement. The committee will include:— Halford Mackinder, chairman Mr.' W. Alexander M P for the Hillsborough division of Sheffield, and secretary of tho Parliamentary Committee of the Co-operativo Congress; Sir Theodore; Chambers, chairman Welwyn garden, city; Sir Charles T. Ruthen, 'Director-General of Housing .Ministry of Health Mr. R. Coppock, • general secretary, National Federation of / Building Trades' Operatives; Mr. Stephen Easten, late president of National Federation of Building Trades Employers; and Mr. George Hicks, president National ■; Federation of Building Trades' Opera- ; tives. •'
