TROUBLE AT a THEATRE. ■ J:; MAN ; sent to PRISON. ; ■ 'An 'incident which occurred at the Opera House during Monday evening's performance resulted in :■■ the ' appearance of David Mclvor, ; aged 37, in the Police Court yesterday before Mr. J. W. Poyriton, S.M., on a charge of having 'used oh-, scene language. jp Accused pleaded i not guilty.':" ;;,; ■• i. ; , : : •;.":,": ''' v -4-- ; /::v'v''-/ : ' The evidence showed that accused,: who had been drinking, was warnod against smoking in-the theatre, but • he ■, disregarded the warning. According' .to the doorkeeper "he was carried;out,, assisted down the stairs, and .ejected;;' out on to the footpath." There he used the language." ■''; , t .' ' r ■; Accused complained of the rough treatment he received. " I am bruises all over," he said, " and I don't,get that by being assisted down the stairs." . v A sentence of seven days' imprisonment was imposed. ; ' , : _ DRUNKENNESS CASES. : " ! '' Drunkenness and a breach of his pro- 1 hibition order wens the charges 'against Bernard Ingleby, aged 45. The order was made last December. He was convicted and discharged on both charges, the magistrate remarking, "he '■ has had a good drought if this is the only, drink he has had. . •:•"■'■ './■■:": .' A third ; offender for drunkenness, Walter Porter, was fined £3, : in default seven days' imprisonment. v- A second offender, John Cu'rran, ••was': fined! £2, or) three -days' imprisonment. > ■"',••"' , REMAND ON THEFT CHARGE. On charges of having stolen 14 tins of polish and an' oak box, of a total value of £2 7s, and ■ having ; failed to comply with the terms of his probationary license, Thomas Hayes was remanded for a week.
