PADDON'S EASY VICTORY. .MARGIN STILL IN DOUBT. A. and N.Z. • •• SYDNEY.. July 23. With the : official ; pronouncement still wanting, there are five different estimates of the margin of Paddon's win over Hadfield in the championship sculling race. The . Sydney Morning Herald makes it nine lengths and the Sydney Daily Telegraph six. _ After the race the umpire, Beach, said it was a one-man race. Paddon never extended . himself. He declared that the course was a good one. Hadfield described . Paddon as the fastest sculler in the world. Paddon. referring to the challenge; from Hannan, said: " I agree to row in New Zealand provided expenses are paid so that the stake will be quite clear."
