ONEHUNGA ORPHANS' CLUB
SUCCESSFUL "LOCAL" NIGHT. The Onehunga Orphans' Club on Saturday held a local night, with the idea of encouraging latent .talent. The night was appropriate 1 seeing that Onehunga was making a brave display at the Winter Exhibition. Unfortunately the prevailing sickness prevented the programme being a thorough display of the talent possessed by the club, many prominent members, including the Onehuuga Quartette, being unable to assist. The variety and quality of the other members' efforts, however, was proof that the committee was justified. Mr. Jock Grant scored a success in his topical verses on the committee, and Mr. Duncan Black gave a good rendering of " Absent." The orchestra, thanks to Mr. H. Hardie, the club's honorary conductor, has seldom played better. Others contributing to the programme were Messrs. H. Black, Betts, Estow, Forder, Gow, George, Marks, Speight, La Roche, and Captain. Gibbons. - The King's Empire Address was also given.
