PATUMAHOE NEWS.
PROGRESS OF THE DISTRICT. [by telegraph.— correspondent.] • PATUMAHOE. Monday. Many signs of spring are in evidence. Young lambs are to be seen in the paddocks,, and dairy farmers are busy with cows coming in. Everything points to a productive season. Evidence of progress is noticeable in the establishment of bowling and croquet greens and tennis courts. All will be ready for the coming season. ■ The movement in favour of building a town hall is progressing most favourably, and about 90 per cent, of the ratepayers in the special rating area have signed a petition in favour of the necessary loan of £2500. The weekly socials in aid of Sports Club's funds aro distinctly popular, and the old hall is taxed to its full capacity at times. A ladies' social held last Friday was a marked success.
