The racing and trot- > ting clubs licensed to use the totalisator ' in the Auckland district number 30, while L the number, of days' racing held during , the season was. 53. The total sum invested was £2,554,637, compared with ;32,517,903 last season. 'The following is a statement of the sums passed through the totalisator at Auckland meetings held during the season just ended, compared with those for the previous season: —

For instance, the Rotoi'ua . I club raced at Te Awamutu, the Taumaru- ( nui club at Te Kuiti, the Dargaville, Bay 5 of Islands, and Franklin-Matamata clubs, at Ellerslie; the Bay of Islands' club at [! Avondale, and the Opotiki olub at Taka|j puna. It has also to be noted that the ~ Franklin and Matamata clubs had not t , previously been licensed to use the i totalisator. • '■•
