July 19. in conjunction - with ou-.r ordinary fortnightly nxturo wo held, a special dairy sale which was well supported. 200 dairy cows and heifers being penned. For all good sorts there was better competition, nice quality Jersey heifers makinff from £11 to £13; other Jersey and Jersey cross. £ 8 10s to £10 10s; best Shorthorn heifers. £6 10s to £10 6s; good cows. £8 10s to £10 15s; fair, £0 to £8; others. £1 to £5 IBs; for anything poor or undersized there was little demand. The advertised line from the Kins Country were in low condition but met with a good sale, making up to £10 15a for the best. Fat and store cattle came forward in fair numbers, practically everything being sold with the exception of a line of small unfinished steers. . Small fat steers brought £6 17s; prime fat cows, £5 to £6 18s; otheks. tollable cows. £3 153 to £4 15s; forward cows,' £2 to £3: stores, £1 10s to £1 17s 6d: oa.lves, 18s to £1 lGs; Jersey calves, to £4 lQs. : A larger number of pigs were yarded and met with strong competition. Medium baconers . (no heavy-weights were penned), making to £3 16s: porkers. £2 10s to £2 15s; slips, 21s to 80s; woaners, 10s to l'fs; boars, £2 15s to £3 ss. ; At Hamilton on Tuesday. July 17,' our entry of sheep was small, but cattle and pigs were strongly represented. Fat stock of every description were in demand and high values ' ruled. Fat steers.' medium* weights, made £8 to £9 lis: fat cows, from £5 to £7 10s; lighter weightß, £4 to £4 15s. The demand for store* steers was quiet, three-year fair quality selling up to £4. Store . cows were also slack, making from £1 to .21 10s. There was a fair entry of yearling heifers, but most of these were passed in. practically no competition being offered. There was also a fail entry of dairy cattle, but composed mostly of old cows. Those were not required and very few went beyond the £3 mark. £7 10s for heifers was the highest figure realised. Pigs were again well competed for. baconers making up to £5; porkers, from £2 13* to £3 10s: store pigs were in larger numbers than usual and declined in value. '.■:.'.■,..;.'

MANAWATU STOCK SALES. ; V Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report: At our Palmerston North sale on Thursday, a small yarding of cheep and a fair entry of cattle- -came forward. All classes of stock were- hard to quit. We quote: Fat ewes to 21a 6d; lambs. 20s 7d to 21a 6d; fat cows. £3, £3 17s 6d, £4, to £5 12s , 6d; store cows, £1. 345, 36s to £2 12 a: yearling heifers, £2 : 2s, £3 13s. to £4; springing cows, £3 10s to £4, • £5 to £6: slanging heifers, £8 10s to £5; Jersey bull, pvdigree, 12gns. At our Feilding sale on Friday a fairly good yarding of sheep came .forward and ft good entry of cattle. Some nice lines of ewes in lamb were yarded, but were hard to quit, shortage of food evidently being the reason. Hoggets, wethers and fat sheep sold freely.
