MERGING WITH THE SUN. The New York ; Globe, 'the oldest daily newspaper in the United States, has been purchased by Mr. Frank Munsey, who, it is understood, will merge it with the Sun in. order to give th latter th e benefit of its Associated Press services, says the London Times' Now York correspondent. The .Globe was founded 129 years ago by Noah Webster,, the.lexicographer, and was for many years the mouthpiece of Alexander Hamilton. One of the most noteworthy chapters' in its history was when it opposed the war of. 1812 5 with Great Britain in. support of the views of New England secessionists. The Globe is strongly republican.'
