GLEN AFTON COALMINE.
OPENING ON WEDNESDAY.

Arrangements have been completed for the • official opening of. the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company's coal mine at Glen Alton, Huntly, on Wednesday. The ceremony will be performed by Mr. X A.. Young, M.P., for Hamilton. Special train arrangements have been mode to convey, the hundreds of suppliers and friends of the company who have accepted the company's invitation to be present. A special train will leave Putaruru and passengers by this train will join those who arrive by the ordinary trains from Paeroa, Cambridge, To Kuiti, and Auckland, and will take a special train leaving Frankton for the colliery at 10.53 a.m. The full train arrangements are published in an advertisement appearing in this issue. Visitors will be required to pay their own fares tp Pukemiro Junction. '" '
Referring to the coal mine at Waitoa on Wednesday evening, Mr. A. J.. Sinclair, assistant manager of the Company, described the mine as a most profitable investment. The field was expected to yield, according to the estimates of experts, 15,000,000 tons. He considered that when the mine was in .full operation the company's coal bill -would be cut in half. In addition to this,, a very substantial rebate would be made every six months to shareholders who bought the company's coal, which would bo' put on the market at current rates.
It is expected .' that over a thousand, people will take part in the opening ceremony. ■'; >'■.-.■:
