NEW ZEALAND BULLOCKS
GOOD PRICES AT MELBOURNE.
SECOND SHIPMENT SOLD.
A.' and N.Z. " MELBOURNE. July 20. The second shipment of New Zealand bullocks arrived in excellent condition, and the animals were generally admired for their uniformity and quality. At the sales odd beasts sold to £40 10s, and pens sold at from £21 10s to £28 17s 6d. The consignment averaged slightly over £26. The estimated average weight was about 830 pounds. .'.""'
The average price realised in Melbourne is £3 2s 6d per hundred, far in advance of prices on the Auckland market. At Westfield sales last Wednesday bullocks were sold at from 25s to 26s per hundred, which was an advance on the previous week, when higher prices also ruled than previously. The cattle shipped were extra heavy prime, and freight and transport charges, as well as' losses in transit, would have to be taken into consideration to arrive at an accurate- comparison with local prices.
