EARLY REINTRODUCTION.

DECISION THIS YEAR UNLIKELY.

Legislation, giving magistrates power in cases of reckless motor driving to make orders preventing persons from driving their cars for _ definite periods was proposed in a question asked by Mr. T. . K. Sidey (Dunedin South), in the House' of Representatives. Replying to-day, the Hon. R. F. Bollard said Provision in the direction indicated is contained in the Motor Vehicles Bill, introduced to Parliament in 1921. It is proposed to reintroduce the measure at the earliest possible opportunity, though it may not be possible to deal with the Bill during the present session.

Tapley (Dunedin) - moved that the Government be asked to expedite the passing of the Motor Vehicle Bill, providing for Dominion registration of motor vehicles and drivers. He said the Bill had been before Parliament for a considerable time and local bodies had the right to know what was being done. The remit was carried.
