BEAUTY SLEEP.

The woman who wishes to retain a youthful appearance must make up her mind never to allow work, pleasure, or even worry to rob her of a reasonable amount of sleep. Sleep is Nature's sweetrestorer, and. will do more to smooth. out the lines and wrinkles which the day's work and worry may have left upon her face than the most potent beauty creams and lotions. The old idea that beauty sleep to' be beneficial, must be taken be-, fore: midnight is a long-exploded theory. It matters but little whether you go to bed at 9 p,m. or 3 a.m. so long as yon obtain a reasonable number of consecutive hours for sleep. Whether these hours .should number eight, nine, or ten depends, to a very large extent, on the' individual needs. The highly nervy woman requires more sleep than her more placid sister, and should, when possible, have at least nine hours; but for the average '.woman eit;ht will generally be found sufficient. Always sleep in a well-darkened room, for to wake in a bright light is not only bad for the nervous system, hut is most injurious to the eyes. Have the bedroom window open at least a foot at the top, for proper ventilation is essential if sound refreshing sleep is to be obtained.
