LICE-INFESTED STOCK.

REMOVAL TO CLEAN AREA. TWO FARMERS FINED. [BY TELEGRAPH. CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAMUTU, Friday. For removing sheep and cattle from a lice-infested area to a clean area without a permit, two settlers were fined' by Mr. F. W. Platts, S.M., to-day. Another farmer pleaded guilty to removing two dogs from Te Awamutu ;to Waimarino, contrary to the Act. The defendant said he tried to communicate with the inspector by ; telephone, but : the inspector was absent in the country. '■ The inspector, Mr. Melrose, said it was the first case of the kind, and was brought as ia warning. The magistrate convicted and ordered defendant to pay costs. .
