ENGLAND AND FRANCE.
Comparisons in regard to the value of •takes in England and Franc© have formed the subject of pointed comment on many occasions of recent years, and » consideration of last season's figures connected with the turf in both countries is certainly not to the advantage of " dear old England." The following figures give the position as to the sums won by the seven leading performers on each side of the Channel: . ENGLAND.
It is therefor* shown that the winners of 26 races ih England averaged £8848 per race, while the winners of 18 races in France averaged £6014 10s. The richest staVe run for on the French turf was the Grand Prix de Paris, Kefalin's owner receiving £21,980
