POPULAR POLICE OFFICER
FAREWELL AT OTAHUHU.
An interesting gathering took place at the municipal offices, Otahuhu, at the conclusion of the council meeting, 'on Thursday evening, when the Mayor, Mr. R. B. Todd, bade farewell in the name of the citizens of Otahuhu, to Constable Moss, who, after ten years* service in the town, has been transferred to Porangahau, || Hawke's Bay. The Mayor referred to the constable's strict and impartial discharge ||| of his official duties, and his enthusiastic participation in every movement for the welfare of the bopough. An adjournment C| was then made to the Fire Brigade Hall, ||| where a light supper was served. Captain Wilson, on behalf of the brigade, «**|| pressed high appreciation of Constable ||| Moss and his . performance of his duties. There was a large gathering of representative citizens Dresent, and a short toast list was honoured. The Municipal Band sm at a separate gathering expressed ciation of Constable Moss* very valuable help, and presented Mrs. Moss with, a travelling rug, 'and Master Moss, a junio* member of the band, with a silver pencil. i $ ■ ■ - ■ . ■ ■• ;'■„'■'■;.■■'.■'•::■
