PROMINENT MASON.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday. Mr. H. Hopkinson, who was killed in Messrs. Wood Bros.' flourmill, was a prominent Freemason and was master of Lodge Christ church in 1903 and secretary for some years. He was a past grand director of ceremonies of the New Zealand GraYid Lodge. , At the inquest the police report stated that Hopkinson was inspecting the machinery about 3.30 p.m. and apparently lost his balance through some cause and became entangled in a rope driving gear. Ho was dragged round the flywheel and his body, when released, dropped into a pit below. The driving gear is protected by two wooden rails about 4ft. high and it is thought the deceased had a fainting turn and fell forward. His head was mutilated by the revolving ropes.
