RODNEY COUNTY COUNCIL.

The Rodney County Council met at Warkworth on Tuesday Several ratepayers asked for remission of 10 per cent, penalty on overdue rates, but this was refused. Matakana ratepayers asked the council to subsidise cost of labour in making an approach to the cemetery at Matakana, the former • approach hav x ing been cut off owing to the council running a cutting through the hill. The matter was left to the riding members. A deputation asked that the Matakana Wharf and shed be extended to double its present size. It was stated that congestion of cargo was frequent. At times the steamer had to unload incoming cargo on the river bank and load outward cargo before the other could be placed in the shed. The engineer was instructed to inspect and report. Repairs to the Port Albert Wharf, to amount to £21 10s, were authorised, as were road repairs in the Kourowhero Riding, £200, and the Matakana Riding, £210, and Albert, £50.
