[BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHEISTCHURCH. ( Thursday. Proof of the revival in the West Coast sawmilling industry is seen in the shortage of labour experienced. A prominent sawmiller's agent stated that he could place at, least 12 experienced men immediately, but efforts to secure suitable labour were unsuccessful. Bushmen were offered 19s a day, as against the award rate of 15s lOd; sniggers, 22s 6d; winchmen, 20s and 19s; daily sawyers, £7 10s a week. The timbermillers' business was much better so far this year than in the corresponding period of last year, and there were prospects of a further improvement, several new small mills having recently started.
