CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS.

PARSONS WINS TEE TITLE.

The sixth and seventh, rounds, semi-finals and final of tho champion of champions match, under the auspices of the Auckland Bowling Centre, was Dlayed at the Carlton green yesterdav. resulting in a win for 'arsons, of the Ponsonby Club, who is the champion for the season 1923. The weather was fine in the morning, but dull and threatening in tho afternoon, when the final was played. The play was a poor exhibition of championship bowls, mainly owing to a tricky wind. Parsons played consistently throughout the tournament, and deserved his win. At the conclusion of the game, the president of the Auckland Centre, Mr. A. W. Hardley, presented Mr. Parsons with the championship certificate, and congratulated hirn on. his consistent play. . Three cheers were given for the champion and the runners-up. The arrangements were in the .hands of Mr. J. H. Sneddon. The following are the results:— SIXTH ROUND. Dr. Moir (Dominion Road), 20, v. Woollor (Remuera), 8. Dr. Moir was in good form, and, drawing well, scored eight before his opponent scored. The points were 11 to 3 at the tenth head. Clarke (Rocky Nook), 19, v. Maher (West End), 17. This game was keenly contested until the final head, when Maher required three to tie. Parsons (Ponsonby), 21, v. A. Blanchard (Carlton), 19. Great interest was taken in this contest. The Carlton player scored in the opening with 9 points up. Parsons was in the lead for the next four heads, and at the tenth the scores were 10 to 9. Play was keen to the sixteenth head, but the seventeenth proved Parsons' worth, the Ponsonby player scoring freely to the end. SEVENTH ROUND. Dr. Moir, 21, v. Parsons, 6. A surprise was created in this contest by the failing off of Parsons. Dr. Moir at once settled down to play fine bowls, drawing splendidly to score freely. Clarke (Rocky Nook), 20, v. Hills (Onehunga), 17. The Rocky Nook representative scored freely in the opening stages, assuming a lead of 8 to 8 at the seventh head and 16 to 7 at the fourteenth. THE SEMI-FINALS. The throe players who qualified for the semi-finals each had one loss and also had had a bye. In the draw Clarke, the Rocky Nook player, drew the bye, and Dr. Moir met Parsons. Parsons (Ponsonby), 20, v. Dr. Moir (Dominion Road), 17. This game was keenly contested. Dr. Moir led to the thirteenth head, but fell away .in drawing toward the end. FINAL. Parsons (Ponsonby), 21. v. Clarke (Rocky Nook). 19. Parsons pl.ayod consistently throughout, leading practically all the way Clarke was off his game.
