SIR JOSEPH AND TITLES.
RECORDS OF THE PARTIES.
[BY TtIEGRAPH. SPECIAL REPORT JR. J TE AROHA. Wednesday. A reference to his own title was made' by Sir Joseph Ward St his meeting at Manawaru to-night. He said that he had that day received a circular in which pointed reference was made to the title which had been conferred upon him. The circular, he said, was a beautiful piece of work, and he appreciated it very much. He, however, wanted to say that jbha friends of the man who was sending this circular round had appointed 25 men to receive titles, and six of them were members of the Government, in less than eleven years. In the Liberals' time, said Sir Joseph, they had appointed in all four men to receive titles, and that in 21 years. Ha had never, recommended anything for him* self in his life. HSs title was conferred upon him and he had a shrewd suspicion that had this title been offered to some of those who were now criticising him, they would have had their mouths open and jumped at it. Sir Joseph said he # wanted to thank the person who had issued the circular as he looked' upon it as a good advertisement. He hoped he would be given another before the election' was over.
