ARRESTED IN VIENNA.
BRITISH NAVAL OFFICER.
QUARREL OVER PASSPORT.
LONDON. March 8-Lieutenant-Commander Hart-Dyke, who at the beginning of February took by force a passport, belonging to an English lady, from an inspector who had snatched it away, was detained, and is awaiting trial on a charge of assault, says the Vienna correspondent of the London Daily Mail. it is alleged that he assaulted the inspector so violently that one of his ears was almost torn off. An Austrian baron and baroness who - witnessed the incident deny that there was any assault. It in believed that the British Legation and Austrian Foreign Office will probatly settle the matter out of court, but the refunding of Lieutenant-Com-mander Hart-Dyke's bail of £33 will be a matter of difficulty, as it affects every Austrian Government department and may take months.
