THE SOUTHERN HARVEST.
Harvesting operations are at present, in full swing in the North Otago and South Canterbury districts. Most of the crops have been cut, but owing to the unsettled state of the weather the majority of the farmers are stacking in preference to threshing from the stook. Last year a largo proportion of the grain was threshed from the stock, but in a great many cases the results were less satisfactory than thoy would have been if stacking had been resorted to. Very little cutting of cereal crop* has yet been done south of Dunedin, but if the weather is favourable the reapers and binders should be busy in a week or so.
