CASE OF CIVIL SERVANTS. QUESTION OF LEAVE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —rRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Monday. The Public Service Commissioner, in a circular to permanent heads, says he has decided that before an officer may arrange to attend thfe annual defence training camp, instead of undertaking obligatory military training of 20 drills, and 12 half-day parades, be must first obtain approval by the permanent head. Leave for the purpose in future will be granted without pay, or as a deduction from annual leave. t ■■ . The commissioner adds that, in case of officers who already have leave to attend the forthcoming annual training camp, such leave may on this occasion only be given on pay, This decision will apply also to cases where leave was granted to attend such camps as have already been held since the inauguration of the new scheme in June last.
