Conditions were prac- i tically ideal, and there was a fair atten-' dance. _ By winning the hose, hydrant, I and union event. Dannevirke secures pos- I session of the Simplex Shield, and as a result of its victory in the hose, hydrant and ladder event, Onehunga annexes the Merryweather Shield. Hillside Railway has a substantial lead for the aggregate and high pressure shields, the awarding of which depends on various competitions. Results are as follow:— Hose, Hydrant and Union, five men.— Dannevirke, 1; Hillside Railway, 2; Tau'marunui, 3; Onehunga, 4; Carterton, 5; Addington Railway, 6. Hose, Hydrant and Ladder, five men.— Onehunga, 1; Hillside Railway, 2; Alexandra, 3; Greymouth, 4; Thames, 5; Carterton. 6: Taumarunui, 7.
