NOTES FROM ELLERSLIE.

BY ARCHER, s . There was a little schooling at Ellerslie on Saturday morning. Fencer was sent over four of the brush hurdles, but his exhibition was not a. pleasing one, the brown gelding chancing each of' the obstacles. Toddy again acted as schoolmaster to Peter Maxwell over the pony hurdles. Peter Maxwell fenced satisfactorily. Dead Sweet and Vociferate' were companiosis in a schooling task over four hurdles. Dead Swoet baulked at the second obstacle,, but got over at the next attempt and tho pair finished up the round safely. RACING TAXATION. OTAHUHU CLUB'S MEETING. The sum paid to the Government ,by the Otahuhu Trotting Club in-., the shape of taxation over the recent summer meeting held at Alexandra Park was £7212 6s 9d. made up as . follows:— & s. d. The two-year-old filly, Ransack (by Solferinoßaid), was .purchased by an Australian visitor after the Taranaki meeting on the 17th instant, and she was shipped from Auckland to Sydney by the Ulimaroa. Up to date Ransack has contested seven races, and her record, is three firsts, three times second, and twice unplaced. * TE AROHA MEETING.
