DISHONEST IHTWATCMAN, •IMPRISONED FOR THEFT • The theft of a ; quantity of bedding and ; cutlery valued at £7, the property, of the Northern Steamship* Company, was **- matted by William Frederick Morns, formerly , a nightwatehman ■ employed by the company, in the Police Court yesterday before Mr. ■J. Mr. Povnton said he could not grant probation*!^ this case. The man was in a position of trust,, and, had stolen not oncV but several times,; Accused was sentenced \to one ■ month's imprisonment. THIEF SENT TO GAOL. Two months' imprisonment was imposed on Harold Tierney, (Mr. Hogg), a motor ! driver, aged 28, who admitted having j Stolen a pair .of trousers, .coat, JMMSS I and chain, of a total value of £12, 12s, j from the cabin of the scow: Kapu. Detective Gouriev said that, according to *» ' statement, accused, after drinking,with members of the crew, put on the coat and trousers while the owner was asleep. -Be left his'-.own in the cabin, intending to return those ;•; he >- purloined. The watch and chain which were in the coat were of little ■ value, for the watch would not go, and he throw it into a fire, giving the chain to a child.
