The Union Company's cargo steamer Waitemata, after discharging cargo of coal at Wellington, is to sail on Friday for Sydney, where, it is understood, she will load for the East. ■ PHOSPHATES FROM NAURU, The Union Company's cargo steamer Walhora sailed from Nauru Island on February 8 for Auckland. She is bringing 6600 tons of phosphates for this port, and is due here about Sunday. PAKEHA SAILS AT DAYBREAK. The Shaw. Savill and Albion steamer Pakeha is to sail at daybreak to-day for Wellington. Lyttelton. and Dunedin to discharge the remainder of her cargo from Liverpool. VINITA FROM SAN FRANCISCO. The Swayne and Hoyt Line steamer Vinita, 5551 tons, sailed from San Francisco on January 20 for Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. She is coming to the agency of Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane. and is due here about February 28. THE TUTANEKAI. The Government steamer Tutanekai, after going on the slip at Wellington for cleaning and painting, is to sail on Friday for Cook Strait lighthouses and Westport. Heather, Robcrton, Ltd., are local agents. THE PORT NAPIER. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Napier is duo at Auckland from Australia to load about March 12. The Colonial Sugar Company's steamer Fiona, which is undergoing an extensive overhaul at Sydney, will be recommissioned about February 20. when she will leave Sydney for Newcastle. Auckland, and Fiji. * THE MARAMA. The intercolonial steamer Marama. which sailed from Auckland at 4.45 p.m. on Friday, arrived at Sydney at 3 p.m. yesterday. The vessel is timod to sail on Friday for Wellington, where she is due next Tuesday. THE MOERAKI. • The Union Company's intercolonial steamer Moeraki arrived at Melbourne yesterday from Bluff. Tho Royal Mail steamer Tahiti iB scheduled to sail from Sydney to-morrow for Wellington and San Francisco. She is due at Wellington on Monday and will resume her voyage the following day. ULIMAROA AT SYDNEY. The Huddart-Parker steamer UlimaToa arrived at Sydnev from Wellington nt 6 a.m. yesterday. The Now Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Kaikoura. after discharging a large quantity of cargo from Liverpool, is to sail at daybreak to-dat for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete. PORT LOADING. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company advises that the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Curtis is due at Auckland from Australia on March 4. At this port she wMI load 40.000 boxes of butter for London and a quantity of general cargo for New York. She is to bo despatched finally from Wellington on March 16. NORTHERN COMPANY'S VESSELS. The Northern Company advises that the following steamers will be available for passengers wishing to attend the races at Thames on Saturday and Monday: Wakatere will leave Auckland at 1.30 p.m. on Friday and the Waiotahi at midnight. The Wakatere will leave Auckland again at 8.30 p.m. on Sunday. , The company advises that the monthly trip to Whangapoua has been postponed until Monday next, when the auxiliary vessel Pono will leavo Auckland at 5 frsn. MANUKA IN PORT. The Union Company's intercolonial steamer Manuka arrived from Sydney at 5.20 p.m. yesterday, and after medical inspection in the stream berthed at the King's Wharf shortly before 7 p.m. The vessel left Sydney at mid-day on Friday, and experienced light to moderate easterly wind and sea throughout the trip. Besides 170 passengers, as well as mails, the vessel brought about 600 tons of cargo. Included in the latter are the following items: 182 ingots tin, 120 cases pulp, 40 bags fire clay, 140 bags plaster, 196 bags peanuts. 106 bags asbestos lagging. 244 bags broken glass. 60 bags ground bark, 120 bags rice, 73 packages preserves. 62 pieces oak, 90 pieces sawn timber. 1853 pieces Japanese oak. 448 ironbark poles. 51 ironbn.fi: props. 7 ironbork piles. 64 chests tea, 15 cases sulphuric acid, 127 steel plates. 30 bundles rattans. 48 bundles bamboo blinds, 70 barrels lubricating oil. 10 barrels grease, 200 c-=es sli*ep dip powder. 349 crates emptv bottles: also transhipments ex the following vessels: Yoshino Maru. Kanna, - Karoola, and Knight Companion. COLLISION OFF NEWCASTLE. The steamer Woodfield. laden with phosphates, from Nauru Island, and bound for Fremantle, and the steamer Jersey CMv, bound from Philadelphia to Australian ports, collided when within a mile of! th& entrance to Newcastle, on January 25 last. Both., vessels were making Newcastle for bunkers. The Woodfield had taken on board her pilot, and the pilot for the Jersey Citv was in th© act of climbing on board when tye collision occurred. Tho latter vessel was struck on tho starboard Side, immediately abreast of the forehatch. Mr. Spence, Lloyd's Surveyor, has estimated that the cost of repairing the damage would be about £2000. In order that the Jersey City could continue her voyage to Svdn*y, Mr. .Snence ordered that the plate, which was broken, be covered with wooden patches, and secured by bolts. Apparently the damages sustained by the Woodfield was slight, for she continued per voyage to Fremantle the following morning. The Jersey City, after discharging her Australian cargo is to come to New Zealand ports, including Auckland, to load for London and Hull.
