LOCAL BODIES' LABOURERS.
DAY AT BUCKLAND'S BEACH.
The local bodies' and labourers' picnic, held at Buckland's Beach on Saturday, proved most successful. Three forty steamers were required to convey the 3000 picnickers. to the grounds. • An excellent sports programme was held, one of the most interesting events being the wrestling competition, which was judged by the famous Now Zealand wrestler, Mr. T. The members of the Auckland City Municipal ■ Officers' Social ■ Club held their firht annual picnic on Saturday, when they visited Titirangi. Seven char-a-bancs were required to convey the party, which _ numbered about 200. Sweets were distributed among the children, who also had _ their own racing events, and a. most enjoyable day was spent by all The president of the olub, Mr. J. 8. Brigham, Town Clerk, in a short speech, stated that the success of the day was very largely. due to the work of Mr. J. Carlaw, and the secretary, Mr. W. Liversidge.
